Athlete Body Shop Classes at Athletic Playground
The Athlete Body Shop is preventative maintenance for your body. It comprises a set of classes that aim to develop strength, balance, mobility, posture, coordination, and power in key areas that will make you move better and be more resilient to injury. Using a variety of challenging yet fun equipment and bodyweight moves, the A.B.S. will reinforce your weak, injury-prone parts, boost your body control skills & movement efficiency so that you can keep doing the activities & sports you enjoy with less risk of injury.
The A.B.S. classes have different areas of focus but will all cover essential movements that are key to overall fitness and cut across many different sports. Each class will feature a comprehensive, full-body warm-up and activation followed by a circuit of creative & fun stations involving specialized equipment that will vary from class to class to target different body parts and skills. Partner and group activities will occasionally be mixed in to spice things up. A common theme will be having fun in a safe & supportive environment!
Special bonus: Attendees to these classes are eligible for a discount code to participate in a local, beginner-friendly triathlon in the Fall (AlbanyTri.com), co-organized by the instructor!

Agility Arts
- Description
- Fall safely, navigate obstacles, improve balance, coordination, reflexes, power! This class will boost your agility and help bomb-proof your body against injury, enhancing the skills and abilities that tend to decline with age. The workouts take place in a safe & soft space, allowing us to practice how to fall safely & get back up with ease. We’ll balance on and navigate around various obstacles to challenge our balance and speed up our reaction time. In the process, we will enhance proprioception, core strength, and reinforce the body parts that interact most with the world: feet, hands, wrists, ankles, as well as improve power in the muscles that support us in many other sports and daily activities.
- Each class will start with a comprehensive, full body warm-up with animal movements. Classes will also include a variety of conditioning stations using equipment you won’t find in a typical gym: padded boxes and crash mats, aerial silks, gymnastic rings, lyra, trapeze, slack line, weighted sled push, balance boards/beams, juggling, and more!
- Drawing from different disciplines such as parkour, MovNat, yoga, calisthenics, Olympic weightlifting, martial arts and circus arts, it will allow you to progress your skills in a safe environment with fun equipment and an experienced & attentive instructor.
